Garden writing

“It’s not just about getting my hands in the soil. Writing about herb gardening, sustainable gardening techniques and those fascinating stories behind herbs is my profession and my passion.”

Lynne from Kailyard Herbs

My Approach

As well as running a gardening and herb business, Lynne is a freelance writer. Not only do I write for my own blogs, but I am also commissioned to write articles for other organisations.

What I mostly write about:

  • sustainable gardening techniques

  • herb and kitchen gardening

  • community projects

  • traditional crafts

  • horticulture, craft, social justice and environmental careers.

My freelance and personal writing:

  • Kailyard Herbs herb gardens and herb gardening blogs

  • Papaver Gardening blog

  • Articles for the POP shop’s blog

  • Article for Dunoon Community Development Trust

  • Articles on careers in horticulture and conservation for the Environment Job blog (which has since closed)

Herbal passion

Through growing, cooking or making with herbs, and researching, we learn lots about how our lives and connections with nature have evolved over the years.

Gardens and food

Working with what you have, growing herbs and food in small spaces like your kailyard, a veg patch.

Sharing

In my previous work as an in-house communications professional, rather than freelance, I edited publications, wrote articles and crafted content for print and digital. Some of those companies I’ve produced content for include Argyll Countryside Trust, Little Sparta, University of Glasgow, Caledonian MacBrayne, Scottish Youth Hostel Association (Hostelling Scotland) and more.
